What is a “Prodome” period associated with Cold Sores?
September 6th, 2008 by Admin
Many people who experience oral cold sores, have a prodome period before the sores are visible. The term prodome refers to symptoms that occur because of an oncoming disease. During this time you may experience tingling, itching, pain or burning at the location where the cold sore will occur. The length of the prodome period varies from person to person, but generally lasts anywhere from a few hours up to two days. Not all people experience a prodome period before the cold sore starts.
